Sun, Netscape hop in bed

Sun and Netscape announced today that they will collaborate on intranet technologies. The deal calls for Sun to support Netscape's Netscape ONE platform and for Netscape to support Sun's WebNFS Internet file system technology (a hopeful replacement for HTTP) and Joe software. Joe is a Java technology that allows Java applets running on a client's browser to connect to Java applications running on the Web server. WebNFS, in particular, looks like a promising standard, offering speeds of up to ten times greater than HTTP. Netscape plans to incorporate WebNFS into Communicator, their suite of Internet clients due this winter
