Spyglass to audit Microsoft

Spyglass Inc., facing a loss this quarter of over a million dollars, will "exercise its contractual right" to audit Microsoft's books to see if it is owed more money from royalty fees. Spyglass licensed the code for its Mosaic browser to Microsoft in January, 1995. Apparently, since the deal, Microsoft has not paid Spyglass anything over the $400,000 minimum required nor issued any official reports on the number of distributed copies of Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is based on Mosaic technology
