Secure Computing Expands Offerings With CipherTrust Acquisition

Secure Computing announced that it plans to acquire CipherTrust for a total package price of $273.6 million. Secure Computing will gain CipherTrust's capabilities to defend against spam, malware, and spyware, as well as the ability to protect against outbound policy and compliance violations.

In January 2006 Secure Computing completed its merger with CyberGuard Corporation to create a company with a combined customer base of over 17,000 customers and 1,300 resellers worldwide. The acquisition of CipherTrust increases Secure Computing's base to 18,000 customers and 1,800 resellers worldwide.

"Over the past few months, we have made excellent progress with the integration of CyberGuard," said John McNulty, chairman, president and CEO of Secure Computing. "With the brunt of the initial integration activity now behind us, we believe the time is right to continue investing in enterprise gateway security, which is experiencing strong growth. After an extensive review and due diligence process, we believe CipherTrust is the perfect addition to Secure Computing."
