Rolling Back Device Drivers on Windows Server

If you’ve ever been in the situation where Windows Server has just performed a system update and some piece of hardware has quit working you’ll need a way to roll back the change. Windows Server doesn't have the System Restore feature found in Windows XP, Vista and 7 but it does have a handy driver roll back feature.

To roll back a driver open up Device Manager. Depending on your login you may need to provide an administrative login and password.

Double click the category that and then double click the name of the device that is having trouble.

Next, click the Driver tab and the click the Roll Back Driver option. If you’re not logged in as an administrator or there’s no previous driver version the Roll Back Driver option won’t be available.
