New report says 40 million are surfing the Web

A new report from Business Week estimates that 40 million people are surfing the Web today, nearly double from the 21.5 million estimated less than a year ago. There are some interesting statistics mentioned in the report:

• 2/5 of the surfers are women.
• 1/4 are over 40 years of age.
• 2/5 make more than $50,000 a year.
• 85% are white.
