Netscape slightly exceeds expectations

In the quarter ending September 30th, Netscape Communications sales were $150 million, a 50% increase over the same quarter a year ago.  The company's earnings came in at $11 million, a 53% jump from the same quarter in 1996. Netscape met or slightly exceeded Wall Street sales expectations.

"Netscape showed continued strong growth in the third quarter, making significant strides in its three areas of business: intranets, extranets and the Internet," Netscape president and chief executive officer Jim Barksdale said in a press release
