Netscape may adopt Microsoft's Java VM

Netscape Communications is apparently walking away from the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) offered by Sun Microsystems and is talking to other JVM suppliers, including Microsoft, about including their code in the upcoming Communicator 5.0 Internet suite. Netscape will support the new OJI (Open Java Interface) API in Communicator 5.0, which will allow users to swap out the JVM and use one of their own choosing.

Netscape developed the OJI interface last year when it ceased its own internal JVM development
