Things got uglier in the Intel/Digital fracas today when Intel filed a countersuit alleging patent infringement against the Massachusetts company. The suit, filed today in Worcester, Mass., accuses Digital of infringing on CPU, semiconductor, and other patents. It is clearly a response to a suit filed recently by Digital against Intel.
"This is part of the vigorous defense we pledged earlier," said Intel spokesman Chuck Mulloy. "We are not opposed to cross-licensing. We have over 1,500 patents, and we want to level the playing field.
