Intel Pentium II Overdrive on the way for Pentium Pro users

Intel Corporation is preparing to release an OverDrive processor for existing Pentium Pro systems that includes the PII socket and processor set in a package that plugs into PPro motherboards. Intel claims that the Pentium II OverDrive will offer "significantly faster speeds" over the fastest Pentium Pro, a 200 MHz version. The OverDrive will also allow Pentium Pro users to take advantage of upcoming SRAM technology that supports automatic error-correction in RAM. Intel is expected to release 233, 266, and 300 MHz versions of the Pentium II OverDrive. The 300 MHz Pentium II will be available in quantity this fall
