The ever-quotable Steve Ballmer, executive VP of Microsoft, took to the (virtual) streets this week, evangelizing his company in a strategic move to cushion the blow of antitrust fallout. Ballmer says that Microsoft is the best thing that ever happened to the Internet; he told a Harvard University conference on Internet and Society that the Internet offers up more choices, not less, in a cybercast on Wednesday.
"Our goal is to open up opportunities, not to close down opportunities," he said. "What we're doing is very much pro-consumer. Our company and our industry has served consumers well."
