BackOffice 2000 due in mid-2000

Microsoft Corporation is planning on a mid-2000 release of BackOffice 2000, the follow-up to its current suite of server products that will be targeted at Windows 2000. BackOffice 2000 will include updated versions of each of the products in the suite, including Exchange Server 2000 (code-named "Platinum") and SQL Server 7.5 (code-named "Shiloh"), which may be renamed to SQL Server 2000.

Each of the products in BackOffice 2000 will be upgraded to work with the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) and XML, a technology that works with HTML to provide fine grain control over Web-based documents. Microsoft will launch its first big push for BackOffice 2000 at Fall Comdex, when it announces the release of Windows 2000
