Why can't I copy a compressed file/folder to another drive when the system says enough free space is available?

A. When you copy a compressed file, the system first uncompresses it, copies it, then compresses it on the destination drive. Consequently, if the destination drive doesn't have enough space to accommodate the uncompressed file, the copy operation fails. To resolve this problem, free up more space on the destination drive.
