Security Service

Symantec DeepSight Alert Services took home the gold, winning nearly 30 percent of the vote for the Best Security Service award. The product beat Trend Micro's TrendLabs, the closest contender, by 15 percent.

Symantec DeepSight Alert Services delivers personalized vulnerability and malicious-code alerts to inform organizations of potential threats to their networks. Each alert helps organizations terminate threats by providing a detailed analysis that describes the threat's severity, potential impact, and technical structure, as well as which systems might be affected, available patches or workarounds, and comprehensive mitigation strategies. Symantec analysts monitor potential threats 24 x 7 across more than 18,000 distinct versions of applications, technologies, and OSs, as well as information from more than 150 authoritative sources.

Symantec DeepSight Alert Services also has customization capabilities, giving organizations the choice to receive only alerts relevant to their specific environment and dispatching alerts by email, voice, fax, or Short Message Service (SMS). An optional XML-format alert is available so that organizations can reuse information within their IT support operation.
