Q. How can I add printers to my cluster environment?

A. To add printers to a cluster virtual server, perform these steps:

  1. Connect to the virtual server by clicking Start, selecting Run, and entering
    \\&ltvirtual server name&gt
  2. The view of the server is displayed, which the Figure shows. The server view shows server resources for the cluster virtual server, including printers and faxes, scheduled tasks, and the server's non-hidden shares.
  3. Double-click Printers and Faxes. Select "Add a printer" from the left-hand menu.
  4. Proceed to add the printer as you typically would (e.g., you must add a TCP/IP port for the printer communications).

For Windows Server 2003 cluster nodes, the printer drivers are installed on the shared disk; therefore, you don't need to do anything else in terms of installing additional drivers on other cluster nodes. For Windows 2000 Server cluster nodes, you must manually install the drivers on the other cluster node members.
