Microsoft releases Windows 3.1 version of Internet Explorer 3.0

The 16-bit sibling to Internet Explorer 3.0 was released this week and by all accounts, it's a feisty little number. Allen Harkleroad of ClubIE notes that this new version can co-exist on Windows 95 systems with the 32-bit version of IE 3.0 and that it is very, very fast. Internet Explorer 3.0 for Windows 3.1 supports JavaScript, VBScript, and Secure Sockets Layer 3.0 (SSL) but lacks support for ActiveX and Java. A dialer and TCP stack and mail and news clients are also included
