JSI Tip 9638. Windows XP SP1 or SP2 Internet Explorer 6 features that were never turned on are enabled when you press Restore Defaults?

When you press Restore Defaults on the Internet Explorer 6 Advanced properties tab of your Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows XP Service Pack 2 computer, the Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates and Enable Install On Demand (Internet Explorer) options are turned on, even though the default setting when you installed was off.

To configure these settings manually:

1. Start Internet Explorer 6.

2. Use the Tools menu to select Internet Options.

3. Select the Advanced tab.

4. Browse to the option that you wish to configure and clear the check box to turn it off, or check the box to turn it on.

5. Press Apply and OK.
