JSI Tip 8231. A non-blank recordable CD or DVD appears blank in Windows XP?

When you insert a non-blank recordable CD or DVD into your burner drive, you receive a message similar to:

<Dirive:> Windows can perform the same action each time you insert a disk or connect a device with this kind of file:

Blank CD

What do you want Windows to do?

Open writable CD folder
Take no action

This behavior may occur with some 3rd party IMAPI (Image Mastering API) burning software, that changes the sub-header bits on the disc to a format the Windows XP does not read correctly.

NOTE: Microsoft is researching this problem.
