JSI Tip 7856. When you attempt to install the Windows Automatic Update Client, the installation fails with 'Microsoft Windows Update Auto Update requires Windows 2000 SP2 or Windows XP'?

The following information is part of the event: Product: Microsoft Windows Update Auto Update -- Microsoft Windows Update Auto Update requires Windows 2000 SP2 or Windows XP.

If you attempt to install the Automatic Update Client on any of the following, you will experience this behavior because the Automatic Update Client is already installed:

Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later.
Windows 2000 Server SP3 or later.
Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP3 or later.
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later.
Windows XP Home Edition SP1 or later.

NOTE: You can only install the Automatic Update Client on:

Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Windows 2000 Server SP2
Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP2
Windows XP Professional (without SP1)
Windows XP Home Edition (without SP1)
