When you try to open Add or Remove Programs, or Set Program Access and Defaults, on Windows XP SP1, you receive Value creation failed " at line 410.
This problem may occur if %SystemRoot%\System32\Shellstyle.dll is missing or damaged.
To resolve the problem, do any of the following, in order of preference:
- If %SystemRoot%\System32\class_ss.dll exists, rename it to %SystemRoot%\System32\Shellstyle.dll.
- If you have another Windows XP computer, copy %SystemRoot%\System32\Shellstyle.dll from it.
- Expand <CD-ROM:>\I386\class_ss.dl_ from the Windows XP CD-ROM to %SystemRoot%\System32\Shellstyle.dll.
- If any of the following files exists, copy one of them to %SystemRoot%\System32\Shellstyle.dll:
%SystemRoot%\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\NormalColor\Shellstyle.dll
%SystemRoot%\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\Homestead\Shellstyle.dll
%SystemRoot%\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\Metalic\Shellstyle.dll
- If any of the following files exists, rename them all to Shellsytle.dll, and copy one of them to %SystemRoot%\System32\Shellstyle.dll:

%SystemRoot%\Resources\Themes\Luna\Homestead\Home_ss.dll
