JSI Tip 5236. Windows XP issues 'The System Has Recovered from a Serious Problem' at start up?

Every time you start Windows XP, you receive:

The system has recovered from a serious problem. A log of this error has been created.

The System Event log contains:

Description: Error code 00000050, parameter1 ffffffd1, parameter2 00000001, parameter3 80579f33, parameter4 00000000.

This problem is generally the result of a corrupted System Restore feature.

To fix the problem:

01. Control Panel / System.

02. Select the System Restore tab.

03. Check the Turn off System Restore box.

04. Press OK and press Yes to confirm.

05. Shutdown and restart Windows XP.

NOTE: You may still receive The system has recovered from a serious problem message.

06. Control Panel / System.

07. Select the System Restore tab.

08. Uncheck the Turn off System Restore box.

09. Press OK.

10. Shutdown and restart Windows XP.
