The new Windows XP interface is automatically enabled in Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home.
The individual components of the interface either enhance or hinder performance, based upon the hardware specifications of your computer.
To Enable/Disable an interface component:
1. Right-click My Computer and press Properties.
2. Select the Advanced tab.
3. Press Settings in the Performance area.
4. On the Visual Effects tab, select Adjust for best appearance to select all the check boxes. Select Adjust for best performance to clear all the check boxes. Select Let Windows choose what's best for my computer to use the install time defaults.
Select Custom to make your own settings, checking or un-checking the displayed boxes.
5. On the Advanced tab, select the performance and memory options you desire.
6. Press Apply and OK.
