JSI Tip 3758. Why is there no time stamp on the local DNS 'A' resource record?

The A resource record of a Windows 2000 Server that is hosting DNS does NOT have a time stamp if the DNS server registers its name dynamically with itself.

When adding the local A resource record, DNS doesn't include the time stamp to prevent the record from being scavenged.

NOTE: This behavior adds increased reliability to the Windows 2000 DNS namespace.
