JSI Tip 10129. The Windows XP Search feature does not work correctly or you receive script errors in Internet Explorer?

If you upgrade a computer to Windows XP that has Symantec Norton SystemWorks 2003 installed, or you uninstall Symantec Norton SystemWorks 2003 from a Windows XP computer, you experience one or more of the following:

•    When you press Start / Search the Search window does not appear correctly.
•    Internet Explorer's Help / About Internet Explorer does NOT list Version, Cipher Strength, and Product ID information.
•    MSInfo32.exe has some missing information.
•    JAVA enabled content generates script errors.

This behavior occurs because jscript.dll, msxml.dll, and vbscript.dll are no longer registered.

To resolve this problem:

1. Open a CMD.EXE window.

2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

regsvr32 /s jscript.dll
regsvr32 /s msxml.dll
regsvr32 /s vbscript.dll
