JSI Tip 10119. Your Windows XP SP2 computer is configured to not notify when the computer loses network connectivity, but you still receive notification that the connection has limited or no connectivity?

On your Windows XP computer running SP2 (Service Pack 2), you configure your network connection to NOT notify you when there is limited or no connectivity:

1. In Network Connections, right-click Local Area Connection and press Properties.
2. Clear the Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity box.
3. Press OK.

When Windows XP SP2 loses network connectivity, you receive notification that the connection has limited or no connectivity.

To workaround this behavior:

1. Right-click the Start button and press Properties.
2. Select the Taskbar tab.
3. Check the Hide inactive icons box and press Customize.
4. Under Current Items, select Local Area Connection A network cable is unplugged.
5. In the Behavior list, select Always hide.
6. Press OK and OK.
