Windows 10 1511 – What’s Available, What's Coming

In November (can you believe it’s December already?), Microsoft delivered its first big update to Windows 10, offering version 1511 through Windows Update. A few days later the Enterprise Build showed up for those owning volume licenses.

However, with these editions available, there’s some pieces of Windows 10 we’re still waiting to see. Here’s the shortlist of what we have now and what’s still coming.

The Windows 10 1511 feature upgrade ISOs are available now from VLSC. These include Pro, Enterprise, and Education SKUs and allow upgrades from Windows 7, 8.x, and Windows 10.

The first Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB, considered the July release, is also available on VLSC. Despite theories that the November update would include a new LTSB, that’s not the case. There is currently no new LTSB and some suggest that a new LTSB won’t show up until Microsoft can get a build together that’s relatively stable.

The Windows 10 1511 feature upgrade is available from Windows Update now. These bits are for Home, Pro, and Education SKUs.  There’s not an Enterprise version of the feature upgrade available, but one will be provided for deployment using WSUS-based deployments sometime in December.
