Windows 10 1511 Upgrade Now on WSUS

Windows 10 1511 Upgrade Now on WSUS

Those ‘couple weeks’ that Microsoft professed just days ago, has culminated into just a few days. Windows 10 1511 is now available for WSUS.

WSUS administrators today can either wait for the server to synch, or manually sync with Microsoft and the upgrade bits for the Windows 10 November Update will download.

Remember, though, unless KB3095113 is applied to the WSUS server, the upgrade will only display – not be available to deploy. Read about that here: Windows 10 1511 Headed to WSUS in a “Couple Weeks,” KB3095113 Needed.

The timing of the release to WSUS makes a lot sense, considering Microsoft also announced the general availability of the next version of System Center Configuration Manager today. Configuration Manager relies on WSUS to pull down updates and patches from Microsoft so they are available for administrators to deliver to managed endpoints.

Unfortunately, this is also Patch Tuesday for December, which could add a higher level of complexity – and potential problems.
