If you’re running the Windows 10 Tech Preview, you’re undoubtedly interested in keeping up with the latest and greatest updates to see how the new OS is progressing. Like its other OSes, Microsoft sends regular updates for Windows 10 Tech Preview using the standard Windows Update service. However, that isn’t the fastest way to get updates. You can manually force the Windows 10 Tech Preview to check for the latest updates by using the Start menu to open PC Settings then select the Update and recovery option followed by Preview Builds. This will display the dialog box that you can see in Figure 1.

The upper drop down box controls how quickly the Windows 10 Tech Preview will download updates. The default setting is Slow. You can change it to Fast using the dropdown. You can force the Windows 10 Tech Preview to immediately scan for updates by clicking Check Now; if there is an update available, it will be downloaded at that time.
