Q: What are Microsoft's stated maximums for Hyper-V cluster nodes and virtual machines (VMs) per cluster node?

A: This Microsoft TechNet article states that a Hyper-V cluster can support up to 16 nodes per cluster. That same article states that each node can support up to 384 running VMs per node, with a total cluster maximum of 1000 VMs.

While 16 nodes per cluster is the stated maximum, Microsoft suggests that at least one node be reserved for failover. This reserved node provides the necessary resources that allow all VMs from a failed node to be successfully restarted.
