Q. I have a Hyper-V virtual machine (VM) that's frozen, how can I dump its memory for troubleshooting?

A. If you have a VM that's frozen, or just any VM or VM snapshot, and you want a memory dump, you can use the vm2dmp.exe utility that's provided by Microsoft. To dump out a running VM's memory, use the command

vm2dmp.exe -vm <Virtual Machine name> -dmp <dump file name and location>
