Q. How can I have certain virtual machines (VMs) start automatically on my ESX server?

A. It's pretty easy to configure VMs to start automatically on an ESX host, but the option is a little hidden.

Select the ESX host in the vSphere Client and access the Configuration tab. Under Software, select Virtual Machine Startup/Shutdown and you can then configure certain VMs to start automatically, the order of starting, and any delay between VMs starting, as shown here.
