Q. Can I use BitLocker inside a Hyper-V, Windows Virtual PC, or other virtual machine (VM)?

A. VMs don't have a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) available to store the Full Volume Encryption Key (FVEK) used for BitLocker, but you can still use Hyper-V by storing the necessary information on a floppy drive. Use the command line:

cscript c:\Windows\System32\manage-bde.wsf -on C: -rp -sk A:

BitLocker is now enabled within the VM.
