Q. Can I link VMware ThinApp virtual applications so they can see one another?

A. ThinApp has a feature called AppLink that allows a virtualized application to have a dependency configured for another ThinApp application. When you launch the application, the dependent virtual applications are also started. Each application still runs in its own sandbox, but they can interact with one another.

AppLink can be useful, for example, when virtualizing .NET or Java applications. First, create a ThinApp containing the .NET or Java runtime. Then virtualize applications that use .NET or Java. Instead of having to bundle .NET or Java into every application, you can create an AppLink to a single ThinApp containing .NET or Java.
