Q. Are there any tools to help optimize my Windows images for use with virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)?

A. There are numerous optimizations that are advised to better streamline your VDI environments. Jonathan Bennett has created a nice tool that allows you to select the specific settings you want to use and then generate a script to implement the optimizations you selected.

The tool can be downloaded from this site. Once you extract the executable, it's very intuitive to use, as shown below. The VBScript generated can be great to use directly or even read through to understand how to achieve some of the actions using your own methods, because many of the settings are registry modifications.
