Preparing for the launch of Windows Server 2012 R2 on October 18, 2013, Microsoft is making new posters available that cover the new Hyper-V improvements. Microsoft is labeling the improvements as Generation 2 virtual machines.
There's a single poster that displays each area in a single PDF, and then 7 Generation 2 Virtual Machine mini posters that separate the different components into their own poster download. Each mini poster covers a separate architecture component of Hyper-V. The posters available are:
- Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V Component Architecture Poster (full poster)
- Hyper-V with Virtual Hard Disk Sharing (mini poster)
- Online Virtual Hard Disk Resizing (mini poster)
- Storage Quality of Service (QoS) (mini poster)
- Enhanced Session Mode (mini poster)
- Live Migration (mini poster)
- Failover Clustering (mini poster)
- Upgrading Your Private Cloud (mini poster)
You could download the single, R2 Hyper-V architecture and be done with it since it includes all of the mini posters wrapped into single bundle, but what fun would that be?
