SCCM 2012 R2 Upgrade Requires Cumulative Update?

Q: When I upgrade from System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012 SP1 to SCCM 2012 R2, will I need to apply Cumulative Updates first?

A: No. A direct product install from SCCM 2012 SP1 to SCCM 2012 R2 is possible without CU installations prior to the SCCM 2012 R2 installation.
