Manage everything. That seems to be Microsoft's goal for System Center. If Microsoft doesn't make it, they can still make money managing it. Announced at MMS 2012, Microsoft fully supports the management of UNIX and Linux operating systems using the System Center 2012 suite of products.
On Brad Anderson's In the Cloud blog today, he gets help from Erin Chapple, a program manager for Windows Server and System Center, outlining all the areas of System Center 2012 and Windows Server 2012 that interoperate with UNIX and Linux, and how each product provides management solutions for the open source offerings. With Brad and Erin's post now live to help educate the public on Microsoft's efforts on supporting UNIX and Linux, Microsoft has released an updated Monitoring Pack for System Center 2012 that provides updated agents, bringing the version to 1.4.1.278.
The original release of the Monitoring Pack followed just after the MMS 2012 announcement and has been updated regularly since its initial availability in May 2012.

The Monitoring Pack supports the following operating system variants:
- AIX 5.3, 6.1, and AIX 7 operating systems.
- HP-UX 11iv2 PA-RISC, HP-UX 11iv2 IA64, HP-UX 11iv3 PA-RISC, and HP-UX 11iv3 IA64 operating systems.
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 4 (x64), Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (x64) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (x64) operating systems.
- Solaris 9, Solaris 10, and Solaris 11 operating systems.
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 operating systems.
