CU3 for ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 Now Available

The Cumulative Update 3 for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1 has been released. That tells me a couple things. First, it tells me that Microsoft really needs to work on their product naming. It took just as much out of me typing that as it would if I tried to speak it.  Secondly, it indicates that Microsoft has packed a bunch of fixes into the update.

Here's some areas that CU3 addresses:

  • Operating System Deployment (4 fixes)
  • Windows PowerShell (1 fix)
  • Software Distribution (4 fixes)
  • Windows Intune (2 fixes)
  • Endpoint Protection (1 fix)
  • Site Systems (2 fixes)
  • Reporting (2 fixes)
  • Software Updates (1 fix)

Obviously, if you look down the list and read the full information about each fix, you'll probably find that some of the fixes you were looking for were did not make the cut this time. However, Cumulative Updates are generally pretty safe to install, because they are really just a combination of previously released hotfixes. Let's hope this doesn’t introduce more admin angst like the round of September updates from the Microsoft Office product group.

Here's the link to the KB Article with the "Hotfix Download Available" button gleaming and ready for a mouse click: Article ID: 2882125 - Description of Cumulative Update 3 for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1
