SuperSite Blog Daily Update: December 22, 2010

Good afternoon.

It's snowing again, and we just got home from my daughter's school's "winter concert," which was pretty much exactly as you'd expect. It's the holidays, so everything is in slow motion.

Speaking of the holidays, the IE team has posted two more IE 9 performance demos, and these two are holiday-related fun: Santa's Workshop and HTML 5 Blizzard.

One of the co-founders of Flickr has started a new social networking service called Hunch. I realize these things are a dime a dozen these days, but for some reason I find the "20 questions" thing fascinating. There's a story about this on CNN's Business 360.

In a lame and transparent bid to out-do Roku, Apple announces that they haven't yet, but will soon, ship their one-millionth Apple TV. They're just upset because Roku sales have jumped dramatically since the detuned newer model Apple TV shipped, and that firm will soon sell its one-millionth set-top box too. But I'm fascinated that Apple is so thin-skinned that they have to pre-announce such a thing. That's some good insight into Apple right there, folks.
