Microsoft Expected to Release Critical Internet Explorer Security Update on Tuesday, August 18

If you listen close enough, you can hear that moment when the wind of rumor turns into an unavoidable storm wall.

Tomorrow, Tuesday August 18, Microsoft is expected to deliver a security update for all versions of Windows. This out-of-band update is rated critical, is a remote code execution vulnerability, and affects Internet Explorer.

Not much more information is available beyond this, except that it will start delivering around 10am PST.

We’ll be parsing through this update as new information is released, but you should prepare now by getting some good sleep, having a good breakfast, and polishing your patching skills. Coffee should help, too.
