The race to create an easy way to unlock Apple's iPhone is over. You can now download and use iUnlock, a free application that lets you use the cell carrier of your choice.
Head over to HaRRo Inc's Web site, where you'll find the tools you need to get the job done. The basic process involves first using iBrickr, which lets you install applications onto the iPhone. After installing a few required apps you can then use Putty (an SSH toolkit for Windows) to copy the necessary iUnlock files onto your phone. With that done you run a few commands, sit back and wait, and presto - your iPhone will then be unlocked.
The release of iUnlock tosses a wrench into the plans of a few outfits that were banking on unlocking iPhone for a price. Now anyone can do it freely. And really, in a case like this, that's the way it ought to be.
