This speaker highlight is Matt Menezes.

Matt's IT/Dev Connection session:

Recently, we asked Matt to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:

ITDC: Give us a brief introduction to you.

Matt: I’m Matt Menezes, a Principle Consultant from Ignia in Perth, Western Australia. I’ve been in the industry for 11 years now, having specialized in SharePoint for the last 8. More recently I’ve been focused on compliance on the platform, working on a number of record management engagements and presenting on the topic at various forums. In my spare time I’m a perennially injured basketballer, a semi-retired and very average guitar player, a semi-decent cook and a massive sports fan. Am looking forward to my 4th trip to Vegas, 2nd time for a conference and 1st time presenting internationally.

ITDC: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.

Matt: Our topic is Lessons from the Field: Applying Records Management in the Cloud. We plan on delivering a demo-heavy session on the options available to organizations to ensure record management compliance within Office 365 and SharePoint Online, exploring the numerous lessons we’ve learnt on the engagements we’ve delivered in this space. Records Management is an often neglected but extremely important aspect of one’s journey to the cloud and we aim to demonstrate how you can be compliant without having to rely on your end users to do so.

ITDC: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?

Matt: Aside from exploring the out of the box and off the shelf options available, attendees should expect to get an insight into how these work in the real world at an enterprise level, taking away some key areas of focus when tackling these engagements, coming away with a number of tips and tricks and hurdles to avoid when addressing the compliance challenge.

ITDC: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT/Dev Connections?

Matt: The idea of a conference light on marketing spiel and heavy on practical knowledge and technical deep dives is extremely appealing to me and I’m not only proud to be able to contribute our knowledge to the conference, but learn from the best in other specialist areas.

ITDC: What is the one key technology you believe is changing the technology industry right now?

Matt: Without a doubt it’d have to be the cloud. The rapidly evolving nature of cloud-hosted technologies ensure practitioners within the space need to constantly upskill and adapt to the changing landscape. It’s an exciting time to be in the IT industry.

ITDC: Assuming attendees want to know, what’s your favorite, non-technical hobby or pastime? What’s one thing that totally irks you.

Matt: I’m an avid sports fan and it’s my favorite way to while away a weekend after a busy working week. Australian Rules Football, NBA, Premier League. Similarly so, my team putting in a terrible effort is a surefire way to put me into a bad mood.
