EBI is deploying the Cognos Enterprise Reporting solution to deliver coordinated and consistent information to employees, partners, and clients. EBI is a leading national workers compensation insurer and subsidiary of international insurer Royal & SunAlliance Insurance Group plc. EBI employees began using the Cognos solution internally in 1999, and the organization’s long-term strategy is to extend Cognos Enterprise Reporting to clients, agents, and brokers. EBI claim and accident-prevention employees will access Web-based information cubes and reports developed with Cognos software to perform multidimensional analysis on claims data, and create, access, and distribute accurate reports in minutes over an intranet. EBI chose the Cognos solution based on data scalability, multidimensional capabilities, the ability to deploy a Web-based solution to thousands of users, and anticipated mainframe environment cost reductions. The Cognos solution will interface with EBI’s data warehouse, generating reports containing millions of records, and the methodology will minimize EBI’s disk space requirements by compressing data into Cognos information packets.
