Microsoft Releases Update for SharePoint Enterprise Server 2013, KB Article Still in Limbo

Microsoft has now released an update for Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server 2013. According to Microsoft, the update provides the latest fixes to Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server 2013, but also stability and performance improvements.

Released on Wednesday, the associated KB Article (KB2920757), which is meant to detail the exact changes included in the update, has yet to be published.

Normally, this wouldn't be a huge problem. Folks would grab the update and start testing while Microsoft readied the KB article for release. However, Microsoft has had a tough year for its updates and patches causing a lot of concern with customers. Our sister site, WindowsITPro, has been covering Microsoft's update woes all year, with this month possibly being the worst on record. And, still, this is also not the first time that a KB article has published AFTER the actual update was available. It happened just this week with a patch for an issue for Internet Explorer 11.

Microsoft's updates have been less than trustworthy, but it plods on anyway, delivering updates that it deems are important. Customer trust is important, but so is fixing and securing products. It would be nice if Microsoft could figure out a way to balance the two soon.

Anyway, the SharePoint update is available from here: Update for Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server 2013 (KB2920757)

It's a little over 802 MB, so maybe the KB article will finally be available by the time the download completes.
