With new integration capabilities, users of the Incentive social collaboration program can now search, visualize and collaborate on SharePoint files.
Incentive this week announced that it has added “seamless integration” with Microsoft SharePoint.
“The public beta enables SharePoint users to search, visualize and collaborate on files natively within Incentive,” states a press release. “All SharePoint files and folders are indexed and searchable within Incentive, eliminating the need to import or copy files.”
Incentive’s integration with SharePoint is designed to help alleviate some of the issues related to companies’ use of multiple collaboration platforms--most notably, SharePoint.
“With one in five knowledge workers using SharePoint each day, we thought it crucial that we provide a deep integration with this platform,” said Rickard Hansson, CEO and founder of Incentive. “Employees can continue to have access to all the resources and files they’re already using while adding Incentive’s social interface and collaboration functionalities without having to switch between multiple apps and programs.”
In a blog post, Product Manager Jimmy Wilhelmsson noted that users will have access to the full functionality of SharePoint within Incentive. “Our integration brings original SharePoint content into Incentive rather than mirroring folders or importing and copying content,” he wrote.
Wilhelmsson added that Incentive integrates with SharePoint in four different ways:
1. Search: Incentive indexes SharePoint files and folders and delivers search results from that content. Users can also filter search results for SharePoint content only.
2. Visualization: SharePoint folders can be added to Incentive like any other app that belongs to a Space, a working area around a project or department.
3. Collaboration: Using Incentive, users can comment, share, like and notify each other about topics that interest them, as well as filter out things they don’t want/need to see. Content from SharePoint is no exception.
4. News Feed updates: Incentive’s News Feed notifies users whenever any changes take place in a SharePoint folder.
Wilhelmsson noted that organizations can still work in SharePoint, but that everything they do will be shown and integrated into Incentive.
