SharePoint 2013 support for Windows Server 2012 R2
"Installing SharePoint Server 2013 on a computer that is running Windows Server 2012 R2 could lead to unexpected behavior" and thus Microsoft says it's not supported on R2.
Just once I would like to see what unexpected behavior looks like--though not on my system; maybe on yours. I can bring the popcorn.
How to change the text that is displayed in the Search Box Web Part in SharePoint Server 2013
I think Microsoftie Bella Engen is an unsung hero for taking it upon herself to write a blog series about changing how SharePoint 2013 displays search results.
No one cares about Search until they can't find something, but then they care tremendously and curse all IT workers in general, and in particular your boss for making them move to SharePoint.
I hope your end-users get some Search love as a result of your reading Bella Engen.
Storage and SQL Server capacity planning and configuration (SharePoint Server 2013)
Storage is about as sexy a topic as search; okay, maybe less sexy than search, frankly. But very important. Hey, sexy is important too. But so is storage. Now that I've totally screwed up the Google bots....
I liked this paragraph:
"Because SharePoint Server often runs in environments in which databases are managed by separate SQL Server database administrators, this document is intended for joint use by SharePoint Server farm implementers and SQL Server database administrators. It assumes significant understanding of both SharePoint Server and SQL Server."
It made me want to join hands and sing Kum-ba-ya with the nearest SQL guy. Oh wait, he's in another time zone.
