Intel and Symantec are reportedly working to develop "security on a chip." Here's the scant details:
According to a story by Reuters, "Symantec and Intel are building \[software\] so it can directly interact with the Intel chips" thereby making it possibly for the tools to operate without the need for an operating system such as Windows.
"It runs underneath and alongside the operating system," said Symantec Vice President Rowan Trollope, quoted in the article.
The joint project has been dubbed Project Hood. Lets hope it doesn't put blinders on those who want to know what their security subsystem are actually doing...
