Looking for a simple and easy to understand way of assessing desktop security? PivX might have the solution you've been looking for. The company just released a new tool, Pre>view, that can help you understand whether your firewall offers enough protection, whether you're missing necessary patches, and more.
As you can see in the image above (click it to see a larger view) the results are displayed in a simple format that shows an overview score along with grades for each of four categories which include threats, security software, patches, and firewall protection. Another view (threat center analysis as seen below) shows the computer's protection grades against specific threats, such as the Bofra worm and many others.
PivX said they're giving the product away free to the first one million people who download the public beta.
