Forefront 2.0 Delayed

Microsoft was slated to release Forefront 2.0 in the first half of 2009. The date has now been pushed back to at least the latter half of 2009.

Specifically, the company will release Forefront Server Security for Exchange and Threat Management Gateway later this year. Then Microsoft will release Forefront Client Security 2.0 and Forefront Security for SharePoint supposedly in the first half of 2010.

The company said the delays will give them time to add interoperability with third-party solutions for information sharing and to add behavior-based security defenses called Dynamic Signature Service.

The latter will hopefully help prevent a lot zero-day attack for which no formal signatures exist.
