With the holiday season just around the corner, I've been in gift-testing mode - particularly those gifts that would make any Xbox One game happy. We have a several different gaming consoles here, but the Xbox One gets the most use. Games that require a headset for in-game communication and sound can also be a saving grace to others in the house that want some peace and quiet against the oft times craziness of the holidays.
I recently had the chance to test the Afterglow LVL 5+ from PDP. Though third party, this headset is officially licensed for the Xbox One. As a good quality, but mid-range headset, the LVL 5+ fits the bill. This headset is the tethered type, plugging directly into the Xbox One controller. Sound is amazing and the microphone is clear, but probably the best feature is the comfort provided by the extra soft cushiony ear pods. A lot of headsets can get tiresome over time, but you really never tire of wearing this set.
