Is Microsoft's Xbox 360 Shortage Ending?

If Microsoft is to be believed—and really, when has Microsoft ever let us down?—eager Xbox 360 customers-to-be will soon be able to walk into their favorite consumer electronics retail store and pick up an Xbox 360 console—no waiting, no fuss, no muss. Peter Moore, Microsoft's corporate vice president, made this promise recently at the 2006 D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas. "Within the next 4 to 6 weeks, anybody will be able to walk into a store and buy an Xbox 360," he said. "There were component shortages, but they've been fixed. Now we're starting to cook. We're building a vibrant, rich, and profitable business model for the future." That's cute, but we just want to play games. Like today. On an Xbox 360. Seriously
